Teddy Bear Tea – November 4, 2012

Teddy Bear Tea 2012 is now a fond memory. Mark Twain Hall at the Fairgrounds in Angels Camp was the venue for the 15th annual event sponsored by SICC.  Multitudes of children and adults alike spent a special afternoon with each other.  They enjoyed special craft tables, took away ballon animals, sat on Santa’s lap, had their faces painted and participated in the wonderful raffle prizes that were available.

All were in awe as the Studio 4 ballerinas entertained.  Special dances from The Nutcracker were special indeed and superbly performed.  Kudos to each of the performers and their instructor, Tammie Lee. We were served a wonderful assortment of delicious sandwiches and desserts to accompany our tea. Raffle prizes were awarded and children were thrilled with their treasures which ranged from a Barbie tree and doll, to huge Teddy Bears, bicycles for both a boy and a girl and many other gifts too numerous to mention.

Our sincere thanks to those businesses: Chatom Vineyards, Ace Hardware-Arnold, Mother Lode Internet, Sidewinders, The Chocolate Lady, Firefall Jewelers, Stories in Stones, Camps Restaurant, Murphys Hotel, Sequoia Woods Golf Course-Arnold, Barrel of Monkees, Murphys Suites, Salon 66-Murphys, Stelte Construction, Hovey Winery-Murphys, Bob & Chyrl Hillis, Carol Jones-Giannini, Kathy Zancanella, The Salon-Angels Camp, and Big Trees Market-Arnold. One of the highlights of this year’s Tea was the Holiday Raffle.  Those winning tickets were drawn at the conclusion of the adult and kids raffles. Cash prizes of $500 (1st prize) and $200 (third prize) were appealing to many attendees. Second prize, this year, was a dinner for six, donated by A Catered Affair & owner Shelly Smith – accompanied with wine pairings from  the newly opened Hovey Tasting Room in Murphys!  All winners were thrilled with their prizes! Soroptimists give a big round of applause to all who attended this year’s event – and those that are repeat attendees.   Each year we are excited to see new faces as smiling, happy children and happy parents come and enjoy the afternoon with us.   Please come again in 2013!
