Annual Christmas Party at Murphys Hotel 12/5/18
10/9/18 Received via email from Serena Gillette (now Serena Hangs) to share with SICC the news that she has now earned her AS Degree in Early Childhood Education! SICC, in 2011, awarded Serena the Women’s Opportunity Award. Congratulations, Serena!
Subject: 2011 Women’s Opportunity AwardDate: October 9, 2018 at 4:20:06 PM PDTHello Everyone!I am just writing to give a huge thank you to all the members of the Soroptimist International of Calaveras County and everything you do! Your group awarded me in 2011 with the Women’s Opportunity Award and gave me a $1000 check to help further my education in the field of Early Childhood Education. I have been meaning to contact you and give you the update that I was finally able to earn my Associate in Science as an Early Childhood Teacher and am currently employed in the Teacher I position at the West Point Head Start preschool. I could not have achieved this goal without your help, so I wanted to truly thank you from my heart, for the support you gave me and my family to help me achieve such a huge goal for a full time working, single mom – it took nine years, but it was done! (Another update, I got remarried in January of last year, so still working but not single!) Any how, thank you again for all that you do for the women in our county, may God bless you all.Sincerely,Serena Hangs (formerly Serena Gillette)
