SICC was busy during the months of November & December 2020 making donations to the Crisis Center, in San Andreas. Items requested were twin sheets (21 sets), blankets, crockpots, cooking pots, full-size shampoos and body wash. Annie Kaufman is shown in the photo below with a sampling of SICC’s donations. We also participated in Santa’s Express with toys and gifts for children.
It’s not as if we have had NO FUN, since Christmas – just a busy time of year. Below is a photo taken at our March 4, 2020 meeting –Our guest speakers, Annie Kaufman and Tammy are in front holding the donated cleaning products (and toilet paper) donated to the local Crisis Center.
SICC Enjoys Christmas Gathering at Murphys Hotel on Wednesday, December 4, 2019
Thursday, October 24, 2019 found several SICC members helping Dignity Health, Mark Twain Medical Center with an event called “Steps to Kick Cancer.” We volunteered wherever we were needed (particularly by serving a delicious luncheon). Pink shoes were the attire for the day & Soroptimists, donning pink shirts, enjoyed the day and were thrilled to able to support Dignity Health, as they support our projects. The area was beautifully decorated to welcome & acknowledge breast cancer survivors.
Guest speaker, Tina Macuha, “Good Day Sacramento” encouraged us all to get our mammograms.

Murphy’s Irish Days Parade – Saturday, March 16, 2019
2019 got off to a quick start with SICC having their first fund-raising event on Saturday, January 26th at the Murphys Diggins. “Paint & Sip” has been very popular – and the Diggins a perfect venue for having room to accommodate the many enthusiastic painters – this time choosing to paint either a rooster or a sunflower. We had several young girls (granddaughters and neighbors) in attendance and they seemed to be having a great time & finished their beautiful “masterpieces” right along with the others. Everyone in attendance completed their “works of art” and enjoyed generous snacks, desserts and wine. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the Chairs, Carol Jones Giannini and Paulette Stelte.
Friday, January 11, 2019, found SICC members and guests at the beautiful restored Victorian home of Ginger Takahashi in downtown Angels Camp. The event was labeled “Winter Soiree”. Some came decked out in Roaring Twenties attire, complete with hats and cigarette holders. What a sight to see! Ginger’s home has been lovingly restored to it’s former glory. Wow!! was the operative word! Finger food and raspberry champagne added to the ambiance for the evening. What fun! AND, how fortunate we were to be able to experience this treasured home!
Hostess, Ginger Takahaski, lead the tour of her beautifully restored Victorian home.

Subject: 2011 Women’s Opportunity AwardDate: October 9, 2018 at 4:20:06 PM PDTHello Everyone!I am just writing to give a huge thank you to all the members of the Soroptimist International of Calaveras County and everything you do! Your group awarded me in 2011 with the Women’s Opportunity Award and gave me a $1000 check to help further my education in the field of Early Childhood Education. I have been meaning to contact you and give you the update that I was finally able to earn my Associate in Science as an Early Childhood Teacher and am currently employed in the Teacher I position at the West Point Head Start preschool. I could not have achieved this goal without your help, so I wanted to truly thank you from my heart, for the support you gave me and my family to help me achieve such a huge goal for a full time working, single mom – it took nine years, but it was done! (Another update, I got remarried in January of last year, so still working but not single!) Any how, thank you again for all that you do for the women in our county, may God bless you all.Sincerely,Serena Hangs (formerly Serena Gillette)
